The Foundation for Experiential Learning exists to help support and develop the capacity of local communities through hands-on learning with local people.

Our primary work is in collaboration with our Institute, the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute, which runs experiential study abroad programs in Thailand for American college students and others.

Educational programs through our institute, ISDSI, support local communities through three core activities: supporting local instructors, meaningful engagement with the real world, and experiential learning.

To learn more about how you can be involved or apply to one of our programs, please visit our institute at ISDSI.ORG.

Local Instructors

The core of our work is empowering local villagers to become teachers, so they can educate outsiders about their culture and ecology.

Engagement

Participants on our programs are engaged in meaningful ways with the natural world, learning about ecology, conservation, and sustainability.

Experiential Learning

Our programs focus on learning by doing, in real communities engaged in the struggle to create a more sustainable future.
